Covers: A glance at the new Enhance

Covers: A glance at the new Enhance
Receiving my new copy of quarterly Christian women's magazine Enhance in the post is akin to joining a gorgeous friend for coffee – the sort of friend who you only see every few months or so but with whom conversation picks up right where it left off.

This issue is full of spiritual nourishment and gentle advice for women – from teens to the more mature – with words penned by regular columnists Joyce Meyer, Lisa Bevere, Jane Evans and Bobbie Houston, as well as features on confidence, thankfulness and parenting teens.

This month's cover girl is Cindy Cruise Ratcliff, worship leader at Lakewood church and an accomplished singer in her own right, who shares her life story and thoughts on using a strong but humble posture to communicate on issues that matter with editor Kasey Mac.

From growing up in a musical family with a travelling minister father, to becoming the youngest licensed songwriter in the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, to starting a production company, going through a divorce, being recruited by Lakewood's Joel Osteen and marrying and adopting twins, Ratcliff's story is multilayered and inspiring.
Also inspiring: Bethany Hamilton's mother Cheri's story of the challenges she and her family have faced since a shark attack turned their world on its head. Cheri says, "It is like getting on a roller coaster and we haven't gotten off yet! We have just learned to roll with everything and hang on tighter to God."

There's a festive pocket in the issue, too, with gift wrappings, cookie recipes, ornament making and a tribute to Mary, mother of Jesus, too.
