Youth orchestras are clearly getting cool: witness the Australian Youth Orchestra, which is this month teaming up with the Sydney Symphony as part of its 'Meet the Music' series to dazzle audiences with the works of Debussy, Vine and Nielsen at the Sydney Opera House.Distinguished solo violinist Dene Olding will be performing Carl Vine's Violin Concerto with the Youth Orchestra, which is to be conducted by Thomas Dausgaard.
“The Sydney Symphony is committed to nurturing talented young musicians,” said Sydney Symphony Managing Director Rory Jeffes. “We are delighted to be presenting the young guns of The Australian Youth Orchestra and I'm sure we will be welcoming a number of these talented young players to the ranks of the Sydney Symphony in the years ahead."
