I was ten-years-old on holiday with my cousins in New York City and I just stood there in awe, soaking up the wonderful smell of new books. I was young, yes, but I definitely appreciated the vast choice of books there even at that age. (Plus Harry Potter was All. The. Rage back then so that helped a lot, going ga-ga over the in-store merchandise, teehee)

I've always been a hoarder, being the sentimental girl I am. Cards, letters, back-dated magazines, and old books are something that have always been treasured. And now because there is so much desire for the digital and so little appreciation for the tangible, I'm holding on to them all the more.

While the rise of the digital age does have its advantages, it also has its weaknesses. I am hoping the day when people won't even know how to write using a pen or pencil never comes, albeit at the rate things are going, what with everything involving typing/texting, we may be just two generations away from that happening. Maybe I'm being overly dramatic, but I can definitely see it happening. Eeep! All I know is that I'm only twenty-one and I feel like a grumpy old grandmother already. ;) Long live print and the tangible!julialowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05507261229921109552noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-34949203478236874002011-02-24T17:44:55.148+11:002011-02-24T17:44:55.148+11:00I would much prefer to read a magazine or a book, ...I would much prefer to read a magazine or a book, than an 'e-book' or 'e-magazine'. The experience just isn't the same. Besides, I love (much to the despair of my parents) having all my reading material lying around the house, so I can always have something to read within reach.

Sending much love to you and your family!

xxelizahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08322021668776294887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-33640799655093454152011-02-24T15:28:56.155+11:002011-02-24T15:28:56.155+11:00There's is nothing like holding a book in your...There's is nothing like holding a book in your hands, turning the pages and drinking up the smell. Or buying a magazine and devouring it in a day and then going back and revisiting each page as the month draws out and the new issue is days away. These days a postcard, invitation or letter in the mail is a rare and special occassion and one day I'm sure my future children will mock me for sending christmas cards in the mail and handwritting invitations because honestly I will never give up on physical print even if it means I have to travel the country patroning every bookshop/ newsagent along the way convincing those who mock me that print is alive and well.thepinkmasqueraderhttp://www.thepinkmasquerader.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
