It doesn't feel like it's for me anymore because it's so blatantly filled with supposed women's issues. Plainly they have seen greater revenue opportunity in going down this route but I was much more satisfied with a Sunday Life that wasn't trying so hard to be gender specific. (I am a woman BTW.)

I wouldn't say it has stopped me from buying the Sunday papers altogether, but my motivation to buy has dropped a little.

I think James makes a good point around the Sunday magazine still having a female skew, without being isolating to the blokes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-64180030159240256792009-07-08T18:48:12.365+10:002009-07-08T18:48:12.365+10:00I noticed this week that Sunday seems to have shru...I noticed this week that Sunday seems to have shrunk in size and the pages don't seem...well, as nice. Rather than a "makeover" I perceived the new "look" as a cost cutting exercise.

I do have to say that the best edition of Sunday of late was a couple of months back featuring a gorgeous life-size (and stubbled) Hugh Jackman. It's still here on my coffee table, I can't bear to throw it out. Gorgeous!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-1172987637230794332009-07-08T12:01:36.788+10:002009-07-08T12:01:36.788+10:00I too love the Sunday Life magazine, but I have to...I too love the Sunday Life magazine, but I have to say I'm over the Sunday tabloids and the Sunday magazine.
And Erica, you're right: A2 satisfies all my cultural needs too! I have been buying the Sunday Tele purely because I preferred Sunday to Sunday Life, which I felt was way too Baby Boomer focused for Gen Y me.

After reading this I might have alook at Sunday Life, but think I would miss the "Can't live without" segment - my absolute fave.Hollienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-49115149270289364782009-07-07T20:35:52.629+10:002009-07-07T20:35:52.629+10:00I love Sunday purely for Wil Anderson's column...I love Sunday purely for Wil Anderson's columns - they are my favourite thing ever. Admittedly though his columns are like another arm of his comedy and if you're not into his stand-up ot begin with you're probably not going to like his columns. I believe he actually used to do them every week until Sophie came along this year!

I think it's a bit futile to compare these two because not a lot of people get both papers delivered. However great comparison Erica!universe93https://www.blogger.com/profile/05194191485987087565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-60777646127336515742009-07-07T11:52:29.392+10:002009-07-07T11:52:29.392+10:00I only get the Herald (because of our subscription...I only get the Herald (because of our subscription, not anything against the Tele), and therefore only read Sunday Life. Initially I found it interesting that their top two columnists are ex-Cosmo editors (are we getting a glimpse of Bronwyn McCahon's future?), but their columns are totally different to Cosmo that it hardly matters. For some reason, I enjoy Mia's column in Sunday Life more than I did when it was in S. And this year seems to be the year of Sarah Wilson - she is doing so much! So congrats to them both, they both have good things going on at the moment.

I also found the Louis Nowra piece really interesting. The concept of a husband and wife living separately by choice like that had never occurred to me.

Overall, great reviews!jessnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-22182063492450804292009-07-07T11:16:29.227+10:002009-07-07T11:16:29.227+10:00I love a good supplement - great reviews! I prefer the glossy stock and the flow of the magazine.
The images and look of the magazine are of such high calibre, why buy anything else, plus this is free!
I feel each week they supply something new and fresh. I love the stories and regular sections as well, they are so varied and unique!

Plus the new size is so handy! Not only for the breakkie table read but for the handbag a few days later. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-76242755231886580522009-07-07T10:52:32.937+10:002009-07-07T10:52:32.937+10:00From a male perspective - I always have a flick th...From a male perspective - I always have a flick through these magazines. Sunday Magazine has more fella focused content. In the last issue they ran an interview with Koby Abberton which was great. It is clearly a female skewed publication but there is more often than not something for me to read.
I like the quality feel of these mags, although I think Sunday Life could now join with G/W for a more rounded offering.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15952653376633211737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2042413869472011551.post-64181394857962427172009-07-07T10:51:32.904+10:002009-07-07T10:51:32.904+10:00From a male perspective - I always have a flick th...From a male perspective - I always have a flick through these magazines.
