Mags: Glamour gets shelved

The powers that be at Pacific Magazines (publisher of Marie Claire) and ACP Magazines (Cosmopolitan, Cleo, Madison), can rest assured their share of the mainstream women's magazine advertising pie will not be eaten into by Glamour in 2009. Word is that News Magazines has shelved the Australian launch of the international title indefinitely, though no official statement has been released. A lack of advertiser support and a poor economic climate have obviously been blamed. Talk about unfortunate timing. My thoughts go out to the team...

B&T reports: "The magazine was expected to launch in April next year, backed by a $10m marketing campaign. A number of Glamour staff came from competing publishers Pacific Magazines and ACP including editor Kerry Parnell from Marie Claire, Tennille Burt from Who magazine, Stevie Dance from Russh magazine, Kerry McCarthy from Woman’s Day and Kate Vickers from Madison."
