The May issue of Australian Cosmo is all about the body special – one of Cosmo's favourite editorial bandwagons. We're presented with 12 new body shapes, food tips to avoid becoming obese (for some reason, I don't think it's Cosmo's readership that needs to worry about obesity – though, yes, we all need to show our bodies more love and get over our hangups) and six women strip and and tell about their body image issues. There's also a ton of cute fashion, we're invited into the homes/lives of Mischa and Miranda Kerr and there's a feature called 'How to eat out, buy clothes, pay rent AND save $400 a month'. Review to come!
Editor Alison Veness-McGourty says farewell to Harper's Bazaar this month and introduces us to new editor Jamie Huckbody, whom she has worked with for 14 years. From Cosmo's body love to Harper's Bazaar's preferred editorial stomping ground; luxury. There's a luxury list, pages of haute couture, a story on Daphne Guiness (she is everywhere right now, no?), a piece on the mega-yacht, a feature on the meaning of luxury, a promising story by mum/journo Christina Lamb, a beauty feature by UK Harper's Bazaar's Newby Hands (she is genius: rubbing hands with glee), Naomi Watts and Frances Bean Cobain, and a ton of luxe fashion for the cashed up. Oh, and there's a two-page Sex and the City promotion. The May issue of Women's Health Australia is also on stands. Did you see the Women's Health TVC that screened during So You Think You Can Dance (the best ep. of the show yet) last night? It depicted a bunch of glossies trash talking about women's bodies, sex and celebrities from the stands, with Women's Health the shining light amongst the bitchy, condemning voices. I thought I was watching an ad for Australian Women's Forum. Should stir some conversation in the industry, I think.
Yours truly,
Girl With a Satchel

I LOVE the Women's Health ad. It was the same one they used when they launched. Very clever.
I couldn't recognise Mischa or Naomi Watts on either of those covers! I thought the Bazaar cover looked like Diane Kruger :S
I thought it was Alicia Silverstone :S
Oh my gosh I thought that was Alicia Silverstone to, in fact I have to go and have another look, how uncanny!
why is mischa barton STILL appearing on the cover of magazines?
